James Howard Kunstler, the author of The Long Emergency, Too Much Magic, and The Geography of Nowhere will describe how the American people’s consensus about reality was broken and how we are likely to recover from the civilizational problems that broken consensus entailed.

Mr. Kunstler will argue that there is a pernicious group psychology at work that proceeds from the terror of losing the comforts of modern life as our techno-industrial economy enters a state of collapse. That collapse is being provoked by very real on-the-ground reordering of resource access, especially fossil fuels, and the interplay of that with the perversities lately introduced into the global scaffold of finance and credit.

Political opportunists have taken advantage of this collective state of mind to seek ever-expanding powers of surveillance, censorship, cancellation, and juridical harassment in an increasingly malevolent campaign to retain power. It has become a collective control neurosis, growing worse as events and circumstances actually spin out of control.

The fact is that power is inexorably devolving downward. Our federal government grows increasingly ineffectual, untrustworthy, and impotent, while states and great cities also fail politically and financially. The macro trend in the big picture is deep economic contraction, re-localization of decision-making, and the re-scaling of all our activities, including manufacturing, commerce, finance, and technological enterprise. 
I’m convinced that the Great Lakes region will be at the center of an internally-focused North American economy when the hallucination of oil-powered globalism dissolves. Places like Buffalo, Cleveland, and Detroit will have a new life, but not at the scale of the twentieth century.

James Howard Kunstler is the author of The Long Emergency, Too Much Magic, and The Geography of Nowhere, plus the four-volume Word Made by Hand series of novels dramatizing the post-collapse American scene, plus a score of other books. His political blog, Clusterfuck Nation, comes out Monday and Friday mornings at www.kunstler.com. A selection of those blog-posts from 2017 to present, was published in Nov., 2023, with the title CrazyLand.  He lives in the upper Hudson Valley two hundred miles north of New York City.
In 1966, Kunstler graduated from New York City’s High School of Music & Art, and attended the State University of New York at Brockport, where he majored in theater.

After college, Kunstler worked as a reporter and feature writer for a number of newspapers, and finally as a staff writer for Rolling Stone. During the 1970s and 1980s, Kunstler worked “a lot of odd jobs, from orderly in the psychiatric wing of the hospital, to digging holes for percolation tests in housing subdivisions”.

In 1975, he began writing books and lecturing full-time. Kunstler’s blog states that he has lectured at Harvard, Yale, Columbia, Dartmouth, Cornell, MIT, RPI, and the University of Virginia, has appeared before professional organizations such as the AIA, the APA, and the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

Kunstler lectured on topics related to suburbia, urban development, and the challenges of what he calls “the global oil predicament”, and a resultant change in the “American Way of Life.” He lectured at the TED Conference, the American Institute of Architects, the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the International Council of Shopping Centers, the National Association of Science and Technology, as well as at numerous colleges and universities, including Yale, MIT, Harvard, Cornell, University of Illinois, DePaul, Texas A & M, the USMA, and Rutgers University.

As a journalist, Kunstler wrote articles for The Atlantic Monthly, Slate.com, Rolling Stone, The New York Times Sunday Magazine, and its op-ed page where he covered environmental and economic issues. Kunstler is also a supporter of the movement known as New Urbanism.

His career peaked with the popularising of the concept of peak oil, for which he was a prominent spokesman, such as in the 2004 documentary The End of Suburbia. His 2005 book The Long Emergency became an oft-cited reference for the predicted imminent collapse of human civilisation. However, oil supplies increased due to fracking, and the collapse did not happen during the timeframe Kunstler predicted.

No ‘Evidence of Benefit’ From Masking Children: Multiple Study Review – Epoch Times, December 6, 2023

In Nordic countries like Sweden and Finland, no deaths of children were reported even though they were not required to wear face masks. 

Wearing face masks to counter COVID-19 provides no significant protective benefit to children, with kids facing potential developmental challenges from masking, according to a recent review of multiple studies.

The review, published in the BMJ Journal on Dec. 2, investigated the effectiveness of wearing face masks in children during COVID-19. Out of the 22 studies analyzed, 16 reported “no effect of mask wearing on infection or transmission.” While the remaining six found a protective association between mask wearing and transmission, these studies had a “critical or serious risk of bias.” Overall, “we fail to find any evidence of benefit from masking children, to either protect themselves or those around them, from COVID-19,” it stated. FDA Breakthrough Device using Optical Spectroscopy was Found to Significantly Increase Physicians’ Detection of Skin Cancer – BioSpace, December 13, 2023

This study, authored by medical leaders including Laura Korb Ferris, MD, and Todd Thames, MD, evaluated the impact of the DermaSensor device on PCPs’ skin cancer diagnosis and management. The study involved 57 U.S. board-certified PCPs who collectively completed over 5,000 assessments of skin lesions.

This recently published utility study follows a recently published preceding clinical study, which was conducted to determine the standalone performance of the device and was recently published by the American Academy of Dermatology2. The device, which employs elastic scattering spectroscopy (ESS) and machine learning, was found in this utility study to significantly improve PCPs’ referral of malignant lesions to dermatologists. This companion study was conducted to provide clinical evidence for European regulatory authorities as well as initial effectiveness evidence for the FDA. The device has been under review by the FDA since early 2023; it is not currently available for sale in the United States. Read more here.

A study developed jointly by Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT) and the spin-off BeDimensional has identified a solution based on ruthenium particles and a solar-powered electrolytic system. Small ruthenium particles and a solar-powered system for water electrolysis can produce green hydrogen more efficiently and cheaply.

The technology, developed in the context of the Joint-lab’s activities and recently published in two high-impact factor journals (Nature Communications and the Journal of the American Chemical Society) is based on a new family of electrocatalysts that could reduce the costs of green hydrogen production on an industrial scale. Coastal Virginia’s New Offshore Wind Farm Will Supply More Than 660 000 US Homes With Renewable Energy – Energy Global, December 14, 2023

The Coastal Virginia offshore wind farm, located between 27 – 42 miles (43 – 67 km) off the coast of Virginia Beach, will be able to produce renewable energy for more than 660 000 homes in the region, and avoid the emission of greenhouse gasses equivalent to removing 1 million vehicles from the road each year, once it becomes operational in 2026.

This new facility, operated by Dominion Energy, will have 176 turbines with an energy output of approximately 2.6 GW, divided into three areas. In each area, the turbines will be connected by inter-array cables to each of the three offshore substations, where the power produced will be transformed from 66 kV to 235 kV. From these stations, the energy will travel to shore via three 235 kV 3-core cables. More here.

Netanyahu Plan to “Thin Out” Gaza Population to “Bare Minimum” – Tikun Olam, December 1, 2023

Israel Hayom carries a story alleging that Bibi Netanyahu has tasked his closest political confidant, Ron Dermer, with devising a plant that would “thin out the population of Gaza to a bare minimum.” Israel claims it is not ethnic cleansing, but a humanitarian gesture.

Israeli security ministers and military command are now debating about the “day after” in Gaza.  There is no clear consensus among them.  The Biden administration has expressed clear views that there be no ethnic cleansing, nor  displacement of the population in northern Gaza in order to expand the buffer zone.  It also is urging a free flow of humanitarian aid. But Netanyahu is resistant due to the constraints of his far-right coalition partners, who hold him hostage on such issues.  It may try to deflect American demands with “we’ll try.”  Though this means nothing. The way Smith got his convictions was to intentionally misapply law in order to coerce innocent people with a 20 year prison threat into a plea bargain.  In other words, by intentionally misusing law he forced people to convict themselves via self-incrimination, which is what a plea bargain is. GREEDFLATION: Study finds Corporate Profiteering Significantly Boosted Global Prices in 2022 – Natural News, December 12, 2023

The massive price increases seen in 2022 appear to be the handiwork of companies looking for more profits at the expense of their customers, according to a study.

A California dog walker had the opportunity to adopt a disabled chicken, and social media loved him so much they’ve sent over 60 pairs of tiny shoes and boots.

The Malaysian Serama breed chicken lost his toes to leg scale mites, a debilitating arachnoid parasite. The new owner from Escondido California had to suffocate them using vaseline and cotton wool which she had to change three times a day. A pit bull named Bolo needed just one day with the officers at the Hopkinsville Police Department for them all to fall in love. Now sworn in as the first-ever “Paw-trol Officer” Bolo has found his fur-ever home.

Arriving at the station in Hopkinsville Kentucky as part of a publicity program for the nearby Christian County Animal Shelter, Bolo was only meant to stay for a day and contribute his handsome face to the Department’s social media posts as a means to help him find a home. 
“Oddly enough, everybody fell in love with him,” said Police Chief Jason Newby. “So when it came time for him to go back that day, they got him in his cage, and he kind of dropped his head and whimpered, and everybody’s heart melted, and we decided to adopt him.” More here.

Joe McMoneagle

As a researcher, Dr. Joe’s passion can be found at the intersection of the latest findings from the fields of neuroscience, epigenetics, and quantum physics to explore the science behind spontaneous remissions. Dr. Todd Ovokaitys

After two years at Northwestern, he was accepted into an accelerated combined graduate/undergraduate program at Johns Hopkins University Medical School, which conferred both B.A. and M.D. degrees. Advanced training was at Georgetown University Hospital, with a Residency and Chief Residency in Internal Medicine followed by a Fellowship in Pulmonary and Intensive Care Medicine.

During his Pulmonary Fellowship, the specialty that concerns the lungs, Dr. Todd began his research with cells of the immune system. Many procedures were done on AIDS patients to diagnose their lung problems. Observing this dire disease firsthand and the toxic results of early medical treatments, Dr. Todd developed a passion for finding better solutions. Towards the end of his Fellowship, he became aware of the benefits of Holistic Medicine for improving the function of the immune system while building rather than impairing the function of other systems.

Inspired to learn more, he moved to Southern California to study with practitioners of Complementary Medicine. In the context of these studies, he had an experience so radical that the course of his life and work were forever transformed.

During a meditation class in the summer of 1989, Dr. Todd paired with another student for an exercise. The process was profound and they took turns, one in the process while the other scribed to record any breakthroughs of awareness. Much as in the Jodie Foster movie “Contact,” the usual anchor points dissolved with the feeling of instant transport to a different dimension of being. There was a doorway or portal to traverse, with a message of the responsibility taken on through the choice to go further.

Instantly upon walking through this doorway, a living form was seen that filled a room – and had the shape of a DNA strand enlarged millions of times. This form communicated that science only partly understood how DNA worked. The linear understanding of DNA as an enormous data string was correct but incomplete. In addition, DNA was a structure of coils within coils in an environment of moving charges that permitted DNA to send electromagnetic signals much as a radio transmitter. Further, DNA could receive and be conditioned by electromagnetic signals. Most significantly, if it were possible to determine and transmit the correct resonant signals, that it was possible to switch the activity of a sick cell to that of a healthy cell, an old cell to that of a young cell.

This experience brought with it a certainty that solutions were possible. After intensive review of the previous work showing the effects of electromagnetic energy patterns on cellular health and function, Dr. Todd located a colleague with the technical expertise to build the desired invention.
