After two years at Northwestern, he was accepted into an accelerated combined graduate/undergraduate program at Johns Hopkins University Medical School, which conferred both B.A. and M.D. degrees. During a meditation class in the summer of 1989, Dr. Todd paired with another student for an exercise.
